If you played ball in high school or college and you're still wearing the uniform, the Marine Corps wants to hear from you. MARADMIN 479/26 says the Semper Fit Branch is looking for athletes and coaches for the 2027 All-Marine Sports teams, the 2027 Military World Games trial camps, and the Elite Marine Athlete Program.
What's on the 2027 calendar
The season opens with cross country in December 2026 and runs through soccer, rugby, flag football, volleyball, basketball and softball in 2027. The Armed Forces Marathon is scheduled for October 2027 in Washington, D.C., with the Marine Corps as host. The full schedule is on the Armed Forces Sports events calendar, and dates can change.
How to get in
- Get your CO's approval. Every applicant needs it, and commands are asked to endorse Marines who are in a full duty status and who'll represent the Corps well.
- Bring your numbers. Athlete applications include three-rep max deadlift, bench and squat, broad jump, pro-agility, a 40-yard dash, and your three-mile and 880-yard times from your most recent fitness tests.
- Show your history. Include proof of prior competitive experience, whether that's high school, college or beyond, plus any awards.
- Watch the deadline. Athletes apply no later than 30 days before their sport's Armed Forces Championship. Coaches are told to apply now. Marine coaches must be E-6 or above, and civilians can apply as coaches only.
Selected Marines go TAD, and Semper Fit covers travel, lodging, entry fees, uniforms and equipment.
Why it's worth it
Competing for the Corps is one of the best ways to see what you're made of. You train like a professional, you get pushed by the best athletes in the service, and you build the kind of team bonds that stay with you long after the season. If you've got the résumé, take the shot.
